Photo Story: Postcards from Mauritius
We came back after a week-long vacation at One&Only Le Saint Geranย earlier this month. But our hearts still seem to be relaxing at some corner of the resort — on one of the hammocks, or at the Garden Spa, or perhaps somewhere by the beach. While we shall write about our superlative experience in details, here’s a photo blog to give you a glimpse of it. Hope you enjoy and get inspired to travel in style!
Touchdown Mauritius
Contrary to our imagination, we received not a blue but a lush green welcome. It’s not the water bodies but large chunks of land and mountain that give you the first visual of Mauritius. Breathtaking, nevertheless!
First View of the Resort
We reached the resort when twilight had already embraced Mauritius. Whatever we saw was too hazy for our tired eyes. When dawn woke us up in the morning, we spent a long while just soaking in the beauty. This is the first picture our camera lens saw and captured. The view is from our balcony of Junior Ocean Suite 415.
Out of the Blue
‘Ah, it’s a sunny day’ to ‘It’s raining!’ — the transition can take place in a matter of minutes especially during this season (winter since it’s in southern hemisphere). But unpredictability is not an inconvenience but a splendour here. At least for us, it was magical. No two days were same and the fact that we couldn’t really plan whether we’d spend the next day swimming or cycling gave us a thrill.
Water Activities
Kayaks, pedal boats, water skiing, snorkeling, windsurfing, hobie cats and mono-hull lasers are complimentary for the guests! Chargeable activities include parasailing, banana boat, tube and speedboat rides.
Spa to Soothe Your Senses
While you feel relaxed at any corner of the resort, thereโs a special haven for unwinding completely. The spa has 8 indoor treatment rooms but the showpiece is the garden spa. Birds, flowing water (and raindrops, if you’re lucky) and not the usual spa instrumental provide the background music. We tried the Mauritian Poultice massage,ย whichย uses special poultices made of herbs and spices wrapped in muslin or cotton. These stem-heated poultices work wonderfully to melt away all theย muscle tensions and leave you completely relaxed. Must try!
The landscape of One&Only Le Saint Geran is such that you can place your camera anywhere and you will get a great picture! We have a large stock of many more such beautiful memories captured in pictures. However, there were several captivating moments that couldn’t have been captured by a camera! Shall try to put those in words and share them with you all soon ๐

Ah…in such a perfect place, how is it possible not to have perfect pictures? The silky white sands and the tree hammocks…its like paradise. How do you have the heart to leave such a place? How was the food? Any recommendations? The spa looks heavenly too!

Even with the odd clouds in the sky, the island still looks like a paradise. I love those hammocks hanged around palm trees. I can even imagine myself just relaxing in one of them, drinking with a straw from a coconut. The spa looks great too, very zen-like.
