Our Travel Wish List for The Year

Four months to go to say goodbye to 2016 but a long list of places to see sits in the corner of my mind even as it is filled with longer lists of tasks to be completed! Those bitten by travel bug would relate to this restless feeling. Just last evening I was telling Abhinav how our holiday to gorgeous Mauritius (early this month) seems like a distant memory already. That got us talking about our wishlist for next holiday(s). Four months to go, so we zeroed in on four destinations our hearts are yearning for. Universe, please note!

1. PERU

Boundless adventure. That is what this destination is all about. From exotic jungles to coastal desert – it has it all. We have heard and read that, widely touted as one of the world’s culinary hotspots, the country – and Lima in particular – offers an array of exotic tastes to appeal to curious palates, as well as a laidback, vibrant dining scene, ranging from backstreet cevicherías to gourmet restaurants. Just the thing we want to explore!

2. LAS VEGAS

Casinos, glittering nightlife, fancy hotels… Well, there’s more to Las Vegas that these images that come to mind when one thinks of Las Vegas. We wish to meet the romantic side of this fabulous destination through some of the most idyllic restaurants, rejuvenating spa therapies, gondola rides and scenic trips through the town. We dream of taking a drive along Red Rock Canyon scenic loop to get lost in admiration of the natural beauty.

3. JORDAN

Ruined Roman cities, Crusade-era castles, Biblical landmarks — Jordan is a country with a riveting history. We wish to follow in the footsteps of ancient merchants to Petra, float in the dead sea, and discover the country’s most treasured artefacts in Amman. This one has been on our bucket list for long!

4.PHILIPPINES

Walking hand in hand with each other along pristine, clear-water beaches is our type of idea holiday. With more than 7000 islands, the Philippines is a beach lover’s delight. We hear that there’s an island to suit every taste, from marooned slicks of sand in the middle of the ocean to sprawling mega-islands like Luzon and Mindanao. But that is just one part of Philippines. The other includes culture, heritage, hills, greenery and much more. We wish to see them all!
