NeoVeda Products Review: What You Need To Try This Spring

Ayurveda is slowly becoming a part of my daily skincare routine. In my search to find chemical-free products, I have been trying several local brands. This time my search led me to NeoVeda by Craft House. Here’s a review of NeoVeda products I recently used.

NeoVeda is not an unfamiliar name to me. I have visited the spa at The Metropolitan Hotel, New Delhi a couple of times. Read about the unique Martial Arts massage the spa offers.

If you are familiar with the concept of Ayurveda, you would know that Ayurveda identifies three basic types of energy or functional principles that are present in everyone and everything: vata, pitta and kapha.

  • Vata: Energy of movement
  • Pitta: Energy of digestion or metabolism
  • Kapha: Energy of lubrication and structure

While everyone has a combination of these three energies, one is primary, the other secondary, and the third one least prominent. As per Ayurveda, the cause of disease occurs as a lack of proper cellular function due to an excess or deficiency of vata, pitta or kapha.

NeoVeda products are formulated to balance the three energies. The brand promises the products are free of parabens, and harmful chemicals like sulphate, silicone, mineral oil, Trethanolamine, and Phenoxyethanol. The products are also PETA Certified.

What Should Your Spring Skincare Routine Include?

With the change in weather, our skincare routine needs to be altered accordingly. After chilly winters, dryness, the spring season calls for hydration and moisturisation of the skin cells continuously.

“The season brings back sweat and grime that can clog the skin pores and cause acne, so exfoliation is a must, but don’t overdo it. Exfoliate depending upon your skin type. Oily skin needs more exfoliation in comparison to dry skin, but keep it mild, harsh facial scrubbing can increase pigmentation and worsen the skin because your barrier gets compromised.”

Monisha Gupta, founder, neoVeda by Craft House

Keeping exfoliation, hydration, and moisturization in mind, I tried three products: Turmeric & Walnut Scrub, Sandalwood & Saffron Cream, and Boost Lemon Essential Oil.

NeoVeda Products Review

Turmeric & Gotu Kala Walnut Scrub

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I shall begin with my review of the Turmeric and Walnut Scrub since I found it the best. I have been using it twice a week and the results are phenomenal! Honestly speaking, I was impressed with the product right after the first use. I have a combination skin type so my skin requires a mild scrub that balances the T-zone. This is exactly what this scrub does while keeping my skin moisturized for a long time.

The product contains Cetearyl alcohol, which is considered an effective ingredient for soothing and healing dry skin. Note that due to its chemical structure, Cetearyl alcohol is permitted by the FDA as an ingredient in products labeled “alcohol-free.”

My skin feels refreshingly smooth and clear after every use. The skin remains smooth, supple, and well hydrated even the next day.

Sandalwood & Saffron Cream

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Spring season calls for a lighter cream than what you need during winters. I look for a cream that has some cooling agent. What better than sandalwood to cool off one’s skin! As per Ayurveda, sandalwood is known to relieve the pitta dosha, implying that it has cooling properties.

NeoVeda Face Firm Sandalwood & Saffron Cream is a night cream that has a refreshing feel to it; I love the fragrance (what with the presence of sandalwood and saffron!). My skin feels smooth and firm after its application. The brand claims the cream has anti-aging properties and helps reduce wrinkles. While the cream might deliver long-term benefits, I find it less hydrating than to my liking in the morning.

Boost Lemon Essential Oil

Lemon Essential Oil. Rs 400 for 10 ml

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I believe in the healing benefits essential oils offer. The right kind of oil can uplift your mood, reduce anxiety & stress, and improve focus and memory. Lemon essential oil is known to:

  • Improve skin
  • Relieve pain
  • Improve cold symptoms
  • Feel energized
  • Treat acne

The oil’s fresh and fruity smell is apt for the Spring/Summer season skincare routine. The oil helps reinvigorate tired skin and provides a lovely glow. Since my skin is dry, I add the oil to my regular body oil and apply it after a bath. The refreshing smell brings in a lot of positivity!

How to use:

  1. Dilute up to 10 drops of essential oil with 30 ml of carrier oil for body massage.
  2. Add to bathwater.
  3. Diffuse 3-4 drops in a diffuser for aroma.
