Hotel Review: Vivanta by Taj Dwarka is ideal for a Staycation

One should never judge a book by its cover. As quite often the most ordinary looking covers hold the most memorable tales. Little did I know that the same would hold true for a hotel — the Vivanta by Taj, Dwarka Sector 21. What might look like a regular, ordinary building from the outside holds a world of wonders within. Here’s my review of Vivanta by Taj Dwarka:

The room design and the interiors are one of its kind. The hotel seems to have employed visionaries instead of architects. Whether it’s the Ganges-ghat inspired lobby area or the awe inspiring rooms or the intellect inspiring Kabir wall, inspiration seems to be the theme. The hotel’s uber-chic architecture has been conceived by RAD, Hong Kong. One can call it contemporary or one could call it motivating. I feel that RAD probably saw the hotel as their muse and made it a piece of art, an architectural marvel. The origami themes, the geometric angles, so bold yet so beautiful. If you’re in a creative profession and have lost your inspiration, just spend a night here. I’m sure your creative batteries will be all charged in no time. The tall ceilings, the magnificent colour contrasts, the airy corridors all make the Vivanta by Taj, Dwarka a very unique property.

30th Vivanta Hotel in the Taj portfolio, this is the 7th hotel of the Taj group in the National Capital Region. No stone seems to be left unturned when it comes to adding that special shine to the properties smile.

FOOD

An amazing aspect here at the hotel are the dining options.  Creo, an all day dining restaurant serving food from different taste palettes such as Indian, Italian, Japanese just to name a few and The Indus Express, serving pre-independence Punjab and Provincial five rivers’ cuisine.  Get a chance to treat your taste buds to some amazing delicacies from Pothovar, Rawalpindi, Amritsar, Khyber and Lahore regions (average bill Rs 1150).  Lunch time became a festival of flavours here during the hotel review. Dinner felt like Christmas.

I’d strongly recommend trying the buffet at Creo (Price: Rs 800 plus taxes for veg meal, all-day dining). Seldom have I come across a buffet where one can’t make sense of the number of options available. If quantity was the cake then quality was the cherry on top. The food was to die for. Meal after meal, I was pleasantly surprised. Those wanting a meal on the go or suffering from a sweet tooth can indulge at Caramel, the deli. And party animals can knock their socks off at Tipple- the bar. It’s a nice corner for catching up with friends and good music.

Spa

For those looking to kick back and relax, the hotel offers a spa experience like none other at the Jiva Spa. The spa offers five luxurious treatment suites inspired by different elements of nature. The treatments on offer are unlike any with some using spices to literally spice up your life. The hotel also offers couple spa treatments for those looking to rekindle some romance into their lives.

Experiences at Vivanta by Taj Dwarka

Those who want to enjoy contemporary art can enjoy a stroll through Terra Forma, the ceramics gallery, which also serves as a motif for the hotel along with the Kabir project.

Terra Forma is one of its kind Ceramics Walkthrough Gallery that houses signature works of the country’s leading Ceramics Expressions artists.

The lobby passage showcases modern interpretion of the philosophies of Saint Kabir. His couplets decorate the walls in form of hexagonal installations in sync with the overall geometrical design philosophy of the hotel. His music is rendered in a unique audio visual format.

Ask for Trails with Tallis if you’re interested in exploring the unexplored side of Delhi. During our stay during the hotel review, we discovered a lot of history at Mehrauli Archaelogical Park. But more about it in another post.

Last but not the least, the hotel offers a plethora of options for the modern day czars of the business worlds. It’s an excellent MICE venue with 9 meeting rooms where business and board meetings can be well taken care of. The hotel also has on offer more than 17,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Ideal for get togethers and events like weddings and receptions, the hotel caters well to those looking for a chic big fat Indian wedding venue. With technology by their side, Vivanta by Taj Dwarka will make sure that your special day is made extra special and you are well taken care of.

What works best for the hotel is its ultra-urban luxurious interior decoration. Add to that its strategic proximity to the airport and main city and what you have, ladies and gentlemen, is a winner at your hands. A “flight-friendly” hotel that has so much on offer would get travellers across demographics quivering with excitement.

Tariff: Rs 6000 +

Ideal for: Meetings, events, weddings. Corporate vistors in the city; it’s very close to the airport.

Thumbs up: Unique, inspiring design; focus on art; delicious food

Thumbs down: This is a suggestion for the hotel. They should do something about the waste land view from the room. Kills the beautiful view of planes taking off.
