Restaurant Review: Sky Lounge Bar & Grill
A fan of terrace space, I love the idea of roof top restaurants. Sadly, there are only a few good ones in Delhi.
One of the recent additions to the city’s roofscape is Sky Lounge Bar & Grill, located on the 19th floor of Royal Plaza Hotel in Connaught Place. Using its location as key advantage, the lounge offers a spectacular view of Delhi. Imagine holding a drink and enjoying a bird eye view of Lutyens’ Delhi and more.
The Sky Lounge has two interconnected sections: the Moon Bar and the Presidential Lounge. While one side overlooks the Presidential Palace and the India Gate memorial, you can apparently even get a view of significant landmarks including Jantar Mantar, Lotus Temple, and Qutub Minar. (I went on a freezing winter evening!)
And if you still do not feel high enough, enjoy some fabulous drinks. The drinks have been named appropriately keeping the sky theme in mind. We tried the Black Hole and Weapon of Mass Destruction. Order the latter and let your worries get blown away; it’s one BIG drink!
The food options aren’t very creative. Perhaps, the drinks menu raised the ‘bar’. These include Indian, Mediterranean, Oriental, and Continental. I recommend the Mushroom Cappuccino soup, the Murg Musallam with Kandhari Naan, the Lancashire Hot Pot and the blueberry cheesecake. The food, however, got really cold really fast (it was really cold that night). But I’m sure the guys at Sky Lounge will think up some clever way of beating the weather at its own game.
The bottom line: keep expectations low from the food and hit the place for the cool drinks on offer. It’s the perfect place to unwind with your loved one!
