Restaurant Review: Pind Balluchi, Rajouri Garden

When you’re looking to dine out at a North Indian restaurant, one name that’s surely going to pop up in your list is Pind Balluchi. Well known all over the country for its ‘Punjabi’ food and ambiance, it has outlets in cities including Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Patna, and Bhopal.

Pind Balluchi, as the name suggests, is designed with a touch of pind (village), and accompanied with a folklore-oriented theme. It has a staid door and the doorman is dressed in a traditional outlook which gives the visitors, complete cultural vibes. Even the waiters are dressed in kurta pyjama; the ambience is amazing, with the food being served in bronze crockery. The restaurant has overhead lights, and the background is painted as a night sky (and the overhead lights give the effect of stars, or maybe, a moon). There is a well, located at the center, and a banyan tree, located at the entry (on the right side). All these components make for a perfect setup for a village (pind).

Pind Balluchi serves delicious cuisines keeping in mind the taste of people of Punjab and Rajasthan. The menu has some very exotic options, offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

I recently visited the restaurant in Rajouri Garden, Delhi. It is located near the Rajouri Garden Metro Station and hence is easy to reach. The restaurant scores for its excellent presentation as well as quality. However, we felt that the quantity of the main course was way too less!

We ordered Dal Makhani and Murgh Tikka Masaledar and different breads for the main course. Undoubtedly, they were very delicious, but failed to satisfy our hunger in one go. The amount we ordered in the first go, left 3 of us hungry for more.

The service, too, was very slow. We had to wait for quite a long time to get more of our order. We ordered the main course thrice to get full. The snacks, on the other hand, were perfect – in terms of taste as well as the quantity.

Along with this, the ambiance was enjoyable. The Bollywood songs in the background made us dance while waiting for our order and thrilled us. It was fun being at such a place, with the eye-soothing ambiance and good music in ears, and with a good company of friends of course.

Cost of our meal: Rs 4600 approx.
