Photo Story: Weekend in Nainital
This morning I woke up with a nostalgia of our weekend getaway to Nainital last year. The hill station has been written off by many since there is “nothing much to see or do” there. But that’s the reason, perhaps, why Abhinav and I are still fond of it! Waking up in the morning to fresh air, walking down the mall road by the lake, eating from small roadside stalls, seeing the wooden souvenirs (that have been there for centuries!)…I think we have a fondness for this old world charm. Here’s a photo story of our trip, to inspire you to take a quick trip to this quaint hill station…
Starting our journey from Delhi around 6 am, we took a beak on the outskirts of Moradabad. The route does not have too many options for restaurants; this was one of the better ones. Keep your expectations low if you plan to stop here.
The Manu Maharani Hotel
We told you about our stay at The Manu Maharani. It offers splendid views of the hills and has wonderful, cozy interiors.
Walk on the mall road:
Stunning views of Nainital:
We recommend visiting the Hanuman Temple in Nainital for spiritual and not religious reasons. It’s quiet and peaceful. We sat there for a long time with no words interrupting the flow of silence. They do not allow clicking pictures and have like a hundred board saying so!
On our way back, we stopped by for some retail therapy for some ceramics…
