Luxury Romantic Dinner at Thai Pavilion

Exclusivity is a luxury in the world’s second most populous city. While there are niche restaurants, finding an exclusive space with table for two in a restaurant is rare. Introducing the concept of ‘Unique Dining Experience’ Thai Pavilion at Vivanta by Taj, Gurgaon offers one such rare experience. What makes it unique isn’t just the romantic space at the Private Dining Room at the restaurant. You get to choose your meal from a set menu, pair it with a bottle of Moet and Chandon champagne, and get ‘guidance’ from the expert Thai chef. Want a meal customized according to your whim and fancy? He will do it for you!

I got a taste of this luxury meal with a menu crafted by Chef Prajuab Shoosridam. I was given a menu to choose from prior to our visit here.

The meal began with a refreshing drink infused with lemongrass – perfect for a hot summer day.

Dragon fruit Amuse Bouche made for a colourful hors d’œuvre. While I went for Chicken Mee Grob and Corn Cakes as starters, I recommend Pan Grilled Prawns which I tasted from my (generous) neighbour’s plate. Succulent and flavoursome, prawn and fish dishes here are outstanding. Tom Yum soup is as appetizing as it looks. Prawn Pepper in garlic sauce and Seafood Green Curry went well with Pad Thai Noodles and Handmade Flat Noodles with vegetables.

For desserts, I recommend Tub Tim Grob – a cool dessert made with coconut milk with water chestnuts covered with tapioca flour. Sticky Rice with Mangoes is equally delectable.

The food is undoubtedly delicious. However, the royal experience comes at a price. The dining experience is priced at a whooping Rs 20,000 which I think is a bit too much. But if you value exclusivity and a romantic experience it offers, this place is for you. If authentic Thai is what you’re looking for, I recommend regular dining experience here or at Neung Roi, Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi (Mahipalpur) which I reviewed earlier here.

Location: Vivanta by Taj, Sector 44, Gurgaon, Haryana 122004
