Let’s Paint Coffee with Le Meridien

Le Meridien’s  passion for art is palpable right at hotel’s entrance. Whether it is Le Meridien Gurgaon or Le Merdien New Delhi or any  Le Meridien across the globe. An abstract art installation, vibrant paintings, interesting artworks showcase it’s deep commitment to art and design.

Coffee is another love interest of this global hotel brand. If you’re a coffee enthusiast like me, you must have appreciated the wonderful illy coffee served at the hotel.

Blending in both of its romances, Le Meridien brewed a creative week from 22nd to 28th June 2015, called “Around the world in 7 days”.

Blue Sky Dreamers participated in this engaging celebration on 26th June at Le Meridien New Delhi.

Art Diet

I find the hotel to be one of the most inspiring ones when it comes to designs (Vivanta by Taj, Dwarka comes a close second). The lobby looked extraordinarily art-rich that day with a walkthrough organized by Palette Art Gallery. The installations and paintings by artists such as Binoy Varghese, Suparna Mondal, Rajesh Ram & others gave enough for the eyes to feast on.

As if high on art, master barista Mahima Malhotra then called out for our attention. The barista has been trained in the art by the Dutch latte champion and Le Meridien’s Global Latte Artist, Esther Maasdam. Showing off her latte art skills, she took cups of latte as her canvas and effortlessly painted things I couldn’t even doodle on paper!

Fellow blogger (Reena Batra who blogs here) rubbed it in by beautifully painting their own latte. Well, I have other (yet to be discovered) talents.

Coffee and more

Coffee shots, coffee mocktails, and of course arty latte — the evening was my dream come true with coffee all around.

Promising a caffeine high, there were three mocktails: African Queen, Arabian Sunset and Spice Trail. The first was a blend of espresso, dates, banana and double cream. The second had honey, cocoa powder and banana while the third one blended cinnamon. While it was an innovative mix, my taste buds weren’t much appeased. May be I am old school when it comes to coffee! So, latte is what I stayed loyal to.

Le Meridien Eclairs
Le Meridien Eclairs

Coffee experience at Longitude, Le Meridien would be incomplete without the signature éclairs. Le Meridien fans would be aware of the concept. For the uninitiated, the hospitality brand recently reinvented Éclair (the famous French pastry) in partnership with “the world renowned pastry chef Johnny Iuzzini”. The event had various flavours including the signature éclair from New Delhi called the ‘Darjeeling Express’. Do try, it’s delicious.

The Coffee Week is long over but we recommend Longitude at Le Meridien for a fine cup of coffee, éclairs and creative inspiration.
