Dine under the stars at Curry Town!

Reviewed by Nikita Chawla

Imagine dining under the stars and the moon. Imagine a romantic candle lit rooftop dinner with your special someone. Curry Town, set in plush The Savera Hotel at R.K. Salai offers an idyllic setting and is a real treat for North Indian cuisine lovers.

The Décor: The restaurant has a set theme in coral orange. The ambience gives you a very royal Mughal-inspired feel yet very contemporary. As soon as you walk into the restaurant, you find a fancy cycle rickshaw, a prop where many queue up to takes pictures and selfies. The restaurant offers three dining options to the guest – al fresco dining, corridor and indoor air-conditioned dining. The outdoor area is lit with lanterns whilst dim-lit indoors. Also, each table has a candle lit lantern which adds to the overall ‘feel’.

Food: The restaurant offers North Indian cuisine including Punjabi, Awadhi and Mughlai. We chose to skip soups as we wanted to experiment on starters. For appetisers, we ordered Murgh Tikka Chandni Chowk which was a unanimous instant hit. A must try! Also, Murgh Kebab Mewar was filling. For veggies, we wanted to avoid paneer and experiment on other options so we took suggestions from the steward and zeroed to Subzi Seek Kebab. We also called for Shikanjvi a classic lemonade with a dash of jaljeera to go along with the kebabs. For main course, we ordered Romali Rotis to go with Murgh Makhani (Butter Chicken) and Murgh-e-Awadhi subzi. The latter a total win! For Veggies, we ordered Jahangiri Kofta and the gravy was delightful. Briyani lovers will absolutely love the Lahori Murgh Biryani. The aromas and the flavours infused in the biryani makes you want to stop everything and enjoy every bite. *umm yum!* The vegetarian version of the biryani – Lahori Subji Biryani is equally heavenly. We decided to give a miss on the desserts as we were thoroughly full!

Presentation: The kebabs and biryani were served in elegant white cutlery. The overall presentation of the food was pleasing.

Service: If you’re someone who is very picky when it comes to food, you could take the suggestions from the staff. Headed by the restaurant manager Sukumar who puts in extra efforts to ensure the guests are comfortable and enjoy their meal and the staff was also very friendly and courteous. While choosing the dishes, we took help from the steward mentioning him our requirements and we don’t regret taking his advice!

Verdict: We chose the al fresco dining and thoroughly enjoyed the whole dining experience. Nothing can beat dinning with your main person(s) at a rooftop restaurant that serves sumptuous food. Brownie points including candle-lit lanterns, chill breeze, slight drizzle and some good music to set the mood. Curry Town is a total delightful culinary experience!
