ALL IN A DAY,  REVIEW

Couple’s Spa at R the Spa, Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi: Review

What can be more romantic than a candle-lit dinner by the beach with the love of your life? A couples spa! The revelation came to me very recently at R the Spa.

So here’s a thought just days ahead of the time when “So what are your plans for Valentine’s Day?” will pop up from all corners. Singles, hold on! Before you frown and dismiss the idea of celebrating the day, hear me out.

Here’s a suggestion for celebrating Valentine’s Day in Delhi — whether all by yourself or as a couple, take a day off to indulge in pampering yourself at the spa. While a couple spa is an extremely romantic idea to celebrate love, it’s not for lovers only. A couple spa is a great idea to unwind even with a friend or sibling. I know a mother-daughter duo who enjoy going to the spa together.

Try R The Spa at Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi, where I recently went for a review. Must say it has all that it takes to relax your mind. To begin with, the soothing décor of the spa does half the job of taking away all your stress. While the cascading water soothes your senses, the dim lights work on bringing in the calm effect. The hotel features four couple rooms: Rudra, Moksha, Mandarin and Iris, in addition to single rooms.

So what really happens at a couple’s spa? As the name suggests, in this spa session, the two are massaged in the same room by two different therapists. The ambiance of the rooms works wonderfully to calm your stressed minds and the “together time” just before the therapy can be romantic! As for couples massage etiquette in a couples spa, you can chat with each other if you want. Although enjoying a quiet time is advisable for relaxation.

The spa gives you plenty of therapy options to choose from. There are specially designed couples packages too. For instance, the ‘Rama-Sita’ (Rs 15,000 for 240 mins) package which includes a floral bath, massage and aromatherapy facial followed by light spa cuisine. We, however, went for separate therapies: Balinese (Rs 3800 for 60 mins) and Swedish massages (Rs 3600 for 60 mins). Balinese is a form of deep massage meant for promoting the flow of blood and energy through the body. The masseuse here does a good job of kneading and effectively using acupressure, reflexology and aromatherapy. The massage is not a delicate one but hard, the way I like it. Swedish massage, on the other hand, is for those who like it light and relaxing. Advisable for first-time spa-goers.

A floral bath together is what can bring a sensual angle to the session. If you’re visiting with your lover, I recommend a candle-lit bath together in the Jacuzzi. You can alternatively opt for steam and shower. A herbal tea together and you are truly refreshed. (If you don’t mind some caffeine and calories, enjoy a cup of coffee and pastry at the lobby of the hotel. If you have more time, taste authentic Thai at Neung Roi. Read the review here)

The cost depends on the package you choose or the therapies and duration you pick. I agree that prices may seem to be a luxury, but what’s a good life without some indulgence? Go splurge and make yourself feel good!

Tip: Keep aside at least three hours for a complete experience and book your treatment in advance to avoid waiting.
