Travel Essentials for the Gentleman
So you’re heading for a weekend getaway and as usual you’ve pushed travel packing for the last minute. Maybe it’s cause you know what you’ll keep, that trusted old t-shirt and those ragged jeans. And all through the trip you look like the ill-fitted spectacle of the family, the man-Friday of your clan. So often we keep things that we don’t need on a trip and often worry about things that we really shouldn’t be worried about at all. Like the tooth brush, “will I remember keeping it in the morning”… ooh the last minute excitement. Well it’s this excitement aka waste of productive time that stops us from looking our dashing…

Unexplored Amritsar
Unless you have a friend or relative there, you probably wouldn’t have any other reason to visit Amritsar than the Golden Temple. But while you are there, there’s more you can explore besides the popular tourist sites. Yes, there is more to Amritsar than Jallianwala Bagh, Wagah Border, little shopping and Amritsari Naan. All you need to have is a little interest in history and a willingness to know something more about this city or interest in clicking less explored Amritsar. On this trip, I found out about The Heritage Walk started two years ago by Punjab Tourism, which I feel will be a perfect way of knowing the 450-year-old heritage…

Weekend Getaway: Shervani Hilltop, Nainital
There’s something magical about hills that makes my heart yearn for a visit. Whether it’s the joy of the drive, the fragrance of pine trees or just the playfully winding roads. The hills bring out the child in me. Yes, agreed, that the natural beauty has succumbed to commercialization. But that’s where a property like Shervani Hilltop in Nainital presents itself has a dream destination. Ideal for budget honeymooners and families alike, the 320-odd kilometer distance, and good quality roads make it perfect for a weekend getaway from Delhi. Technically, the property is located in Mallital, about 2 kilometers away from the main Mall road but the majestic views while…

Romantic Restaurants in Delhi
Candlelight dinners sound filmi. Real romance comes alive when a dinner date is under the open sky on a breezy evening or inside a restaurant offering just the right amount of coziness… Somewhere you can look into each other’s eyes and not worry about prying eyes of the staff. As Delhi gears up to don its most romantic look, here’s listing out some of the most romantic restaurants in Delhi. Starting with what I consider the most romantic restaurant in Delhi — Lodi, the garden restaurant. More coming soon! 1. Lodi – The Garden Restaurant: The bliss you just can’t miss – By Abhinav Sahni So you’re out for a drive with your…

Hotel Review: Aloft Bengaluru
Describing the brand, the official website says Aloft is “a place where anything can happen”. Walk into Aloft Bengaluru Cessna Business Park and you’ll know what that means. Unexpected, full of surprise elements, lively — Aloft breaks the rules of a cookie-cutter hotel and is like a breath of fresh air in the segment that typically caters to busy corporate travellers. Swanky & Stylish Striking colours, swanky décor, peppy music, a real Cessna hanging from the ceiling – one wouldn’t typically associate the imagery with a business hotel. The 191-room hotel offers all this and more. Distinct from usual upscale hotels, Aloft Bengaluru Cessna Business Park is also different from other Aloft…

A Soulful Weekend at Te Aroha, Dhanachuli
Tell your problems to mountains. They are good listeners. Do that during sunrise as nature paints the best at dawn. I, therefore, never miss it when on a holiday. I feel sunrise builds a soulful connect with the place. And this one, here at Te Aroha, is special. I sit and admire it from the balcony of my room (coincidentally called Morning Sun) with my list of problems and a cup of coffee in hand. [I was later shifted to Master’s Bedroom suite — a spacious room with a lovely balcony, where I spent better part of the day.] Silence speaks loud at Te Aroha, a beautiful weekend getaway from Delhi.…

Hotel Review: Fairmont Jaipur
It’s been a while since I visited the hotel but there are certain pleasing things about the hotel that remind me about the hotel. Believe it or not, one of them is the bathroom. It made me feel like a queen, as did several other elements in this palace-ish kind of hotel (it wasn’t really a palace but is built like it has a royal story behind it). The façade of a fort sets the ground for the luxury you can expect inside the hotel. And just when you step out of your car, you can add a tad more to your list of expectations as you hear the sound…
