REVIEW

Beauty must-haves for a picture perfect summer holiday!

We were sent a number of products for review for perfect makeup essential for summer time travel. We tried and tested all those but have recommended only the ones we found truly useful for a picture-perfect holiday!

FACES Hydro Face Mist

Product Claim: “FACES Hydro Face Mist is a face cleanser with cooling & hydrating properties. It has tea-tree infused formulation which removes dead skin cells and protects skin from fungal and bacterial infections and has anti-acne properties as well.”

Our review: First of all, we love the travel-friendly packaging this product comes in. Secondly, the refreshing green apple fragrance is impressive. It not just refreshes and hydrates skin but also gives it a dewy effect.

After using it for continually for a few days, we found the mist to be an excellent companion especially on a road trip. The skin remained hydrated and moist long after its usage as did the cooling effect. The mist contains Hyaluronic acid which is said to be a natural skin softening agent. While it works beautifully on dry skin, the presence of glycerin may be an irritant for those with oily skin since that will make the skin a little greasy. Hence, we recommend the product for those with dry and combination skin.

Tip: Spritz while holding it about five inches away from your face. Blot off the excess after allowing it to sit for a few seconds.

MRP: Rs 299 for 50 ml. Available at Rs 229 on Amazon (link in the image)

2. Revlon Touch and Glow Advanced Sun Care Daily Moisturising Lotion

Product Claim: Infused with a potent mix of rich natural ingredients such as aloe vera, fucogel, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin C and vitamin B5, this daily moisturising lotion protects your skin from the harmful rays of the sun. Suitable for all skin types, this touch and glow advanced sun care daily moisturising lotion with a SPF of 30 must be applied on your body skin before stepping out in the sun.

Our review: In an exclusive column for Blue Sky Dreamers, Dr Kiran Lohia shared the significance of sunscreen for a hill holiday and not just for beach destination. This moisturising lotion by Revlon might be just what the doctor ordered, literally! With SPF30, the lotion provides good protection against harmful UV rays. The lotion moisturizes the skin well and can be used daily. Suitable for all skin types, this is a definite must-have while travelling irrespective of the destination and season.

TBC Frosted White Peeling Gel Scrub

Product Claim: A peeling gel that visibly rolls, lift and sweeps away dead skin cells when massaged onto skin.  Multi-action enzymes (pineapple, pomegranate and keratinase) along with cellulose effectively peel and help uncover a smooth, fresh, new complexion without drying, irritating or causing undue stress to skin. It removes impurities and decongest clogged pores for a youthful radiant look.

Peeling Gel Scrub

Our review: Okay, to be honest, we hadn’t heard much about the brand TBC by Nature and so did not have high expectations from the product. But the fact that we have included it in this list is a proof that we were pleasantly surprised.

Pineapple and pomegranate are natural exfoliating agents. Pineapple, in fact, is known to eliminate the dead skin and accentuate blood flow. In addition, it also contains aloe vera, avocado, olive oil, and jojoba oil — all of which have excellent benefits on the skin. The results are for you to see. The skin is visibly clearer and smooth. The exfoliation is neither too mild nor too coarse. The best part is that it does not dry up your skin. And it comes in travel-friendly packaging. The only downside is that we found the product a tad expensive.

Price: Rs 350 for 100g

Fabindia Face and Body Gel Scrub

Product Claim: The neem and tulsi gel scrub, especially formulated for daily use is made with natural active ingredients. It gently exfoliates the skin leaving you feeling refreshed and invigorated all day long.

fab india gel scrub

Our review: The reason why we’ve included two gel scrubs in this list is that we are equally impressed by both! This one is sure to leave to “refreshed and invigorated” as promised by the brand. The very fragrance of the product is cooling. The presence of crushed leaves gives it a fresh and natural feel. Being a gel scrub, it is not too coarse and in fact has a cooling effect because of the ingredients used. A great product for a quick skin refreshment during a summer destination holiday.

Price: Rs 350 for 100 ml.

FACES Ultime Pro Lip Crayon

Product claim: Dresses up lips in statement shades in matte finish with rich, color-bright pigments, while being super comfortable on lips.

Our Review: If you are a fan of matte finish, buy the product without any doubt in mind. The smoothness is fabulous as it just glides over your lips. It’s mainly the staying power for which we have included it in the list of beauty essentials for travel. It stays easily for about 5-6 hours, making it perfect for a trip. At Rs 799 it surely is expensive but worth it for a perfect vibrant selfie on your holiday 😉

Revlon Colorstay Overtime

Product Claim: “16 hours of comfortable color. No touch ups needed even after meals. Topcoat enriched with chamomile, keeps lips comfortable and delivers the shiniest shine.”

Our review: If you’re looking for a lip color which does not require a touch-up at all, this is the one you have been looking for! You can apply and forget about it until you want to remove it! You need to use any oil or cream based makeup remover to remove it.

The topcoat provides the perfect gloss to let your lips shine in the pics. I personally love this shade [For Keeps Pink (490)] but it might not suit all skin tones. However, there are multiple shades available to choose from.

While this product has our thumbs up for its quality, the price point is a tad too much for the quantity. The MRP is Rs 1200 for 2ml but is available at lesser price across various online platforms like Amazon, Nykka, etc.
